PSL-3000 & PSE Multi-Port Suite
The PSL-3000 Programmable Load supports an optional feature for Multi-Port system testing and analysis of PSE's. This type of testing is primarily useful for development and analysis of PSE system-wide behaviors such as the distribution of power to one or more Powered Devices. It can also be an efficient means for QA of higher (24 and up) port-count PSE's.
At the heart of Multi-Port system testing is the ability to present user-defined Powered Devices on many or all PSE ports simultaneously. Using Live PD Emulation, every PSE port can experience any user-defined PD including Type-2 (Class 4) PD's with full LLDP support. Live PD Emulation means a user-defined PD is always present regardless of the state of the PSE port. PSE ports may administratively remove power, restore power, negotiate power, and re-nogotiate power as they choose.
In combination with the PSL-3000, the PSE Multi-Port Test Suite is a group of 9 tests that emulate user-defined Type-1 (Class 0-3) PD's across many or all PSE ports in order to assess PSE behaviors such as power administration by port, total power capacity, port interdependence, and power stressing over time. Though the PD emulations are exclusively Type-1, these tests are applicable to both Type-1 and Type-2 (high power) PSE's as they are not in any way bound to PoE LLDP protocol rules.
Key features of the PSE Multi-Port Suite for the PSL-3000 are:
- Low per-port Cost
- Configure up to 192 ports of simultaneous Live PD Emulation with per-port Live Status monitoring
- Live PD Emulation of Type-1 (Class 0-3) and Type-2 (Class 4), including LLDP-Capable Powered Devices and 4-Pair (proprietary) High Power Devices
- Up to 192 Ports of fully automated Type-1 (non-LLDP) system testing and analysis including power management decisions, power capacity, and multi-port independence tests
- Colorful and Informative Spreadsheet Reporting with Compliance (Pass/Fail) Notations and Parameter Statistics
